Locate the Union Court Docket

Start with the paperwork. A ticket or court notice names the exact court that holds your case, and that name is your key to the Union court docket. “Union” alone is too vague a search term, since it can pull results from well beyond the city limits. The Union municipal court itself posts no online docket, calendar, or payment portal, so the paper trail matters even more. Your case may sit in a named municipal venue, in the Greene County District or Circuit system, or in the separate Greene County Probate Court. Check the citation first. Then take that court name to the right clerk, who can confirm your court date, show the case record, and release the public filing you need.

Union Court Docket Name Search Trap

The word Union names a town, a county, an organization, or just an idea. Type it without Greene County and Alabama. You will pull courts and records that have nothing to do with this city. Even a properly narrowed search still leaves one question open. Does the case sit in a city venue, Greene District Court, Greene Circuit Court, or Probate Court? The name alone cannot answer that.

Best identifier: Use the exact Union case or UTC number with the court name. A Union number reduces ambiguity and avoids unnecessary paid case details.

Search a Union name in Just One Look with exact legal spelling. Check the county, court, and Union case type before paying for another detail. The public landing page does not confirm wildcard behavior, name-length limits, or every downstream filter. Assume nothing about a Union filter.

A similarly named place or entity should stop you cold. Compare the court, county, case number, and case class against the Union notice. Do that before buying anything. A true match lines up with the source record. When it does not, ask the clerk for help. Question whether the case sits in another division, outside electronic coverage, or under restriction.

The Union Municipal Court

Union publishes no municipal-court website, docket calendar, payment portal, or contact page, so no office card or recurring docket day can be stated as fact. The court named on your citation is the primary source. Start there.

Where an operating municipal court does handle a Union ordinance or municipal traffic matter, its clerk holds that local record. A state traffic case may instead be filed in Greene District Court. Felony, general civil, domestic, small-claims, juvenile, child-support, and probate matters each follow their own jurisdiction. Living in Union does not make any of them municipal.

Union Court Records in Alabama's System

Alabama runs its courts through a Unified Judicial System. That shape determines where a Union docket search ends up. No city-built portal holds the trial records. The Circuit Clerk of Greene County keeps the Circuit and District files. The Judge of Probate handles probate business separately. Ordinance and traffic matters stay with the municipal clerks who actually filed them, so a Union traffic ticket lives in the municipal court that issued it. The Alabama Judicial System overview lays out how this statewide structure is organized.

Union court docket within the Alabama Judicial System

The state site shows the judicial layer behind any Union search, which is why a state page should never be mistaken for a city portal.

AlaFile serves registered electronic filers. AlacourtPlus is the internal tool clerks and judges use. Just One Look is the public paid product. Three names, three different jobs.

Union Court Dates and Settings

A Union state traffic citation prints its initial appearance date on its face. A later order can reset that date. For county cases, Just One Look advertises Court Setting Dates inside the Case Action Summary. Greene County posts no separate free Union calendar. Confirm any near-term appearance with the office holding the case.

DateUse the latest valid setting after reading later actions and orders.
TimeAsk the court when the notice or paid result does not make it clear.
CourtroomConfirm the room, building, or other venue before travel.
JudgeVerify the current assignment rather than inferring it.
Setting TypeSeparate appearance, arraignment, hearing, docket call, trial, and review.

A docket entry marked continued is not a disposition. If no new date appears, call the named court and ask for the current setting.

Union Court Docket Ticket Fields

For an eligible Union-area state ticket, the online traffic lookup accepts a Ticket Number or Case Number. A ticket-number search uses the UTC letter and number. It needs at least five characters, plus your birth month and year. A matched record may then ask for a cell phone number or email. Those are used for notices or court orders. Those fields open state traffic access only.

Those fields prove state traffic access, not municipal Union participation. Read the court on the UTC before you use it.

Union Traffic Tickets

A payable Union-area state citation has a hard deadline. Pay it in full by the appearance date unless a judge sets a different Union date. Payment counts as a guilty plea and a waiver, so think before you send money. To fight an eligible Union citation instead, file OTR Option H. That form enters a not-guilty plea and asks for a trial date. If the portal shows a mandatory-appearance message, the Union matter simply cannot be paid online.

Defensive driving changes the math. Never pay the Union ticket first if that option might apply. The state process runs through an application, court approval, the school itself, a certificate upload, assessed court costs, and a dismissal order at the end. Greene County is not one of the four counties the state guidance lists as excluding the program. Yet a Union-area case still needs its own approval. The full Union ticket pathways are laid out in Greene County traffic court records.

Union Court Docket Appearance Limits

Sometimes the traffic portal says a Union-area fine cannot be paid online and an appearance is required. Read that as a routing instruction, not a broken portal. Write down the case or UTC number. Then confirm the court, the date, the time, and the location. Show up rather than trusting the automated payment line to stand in for you.

Need more time? Send that request to the court itself. If a judge approves it, an emailed order controls. The online feature for requesting a new court date belongs to Montgomery County only. Union cannot count on it. Miss the resolution and the appearance, and the official state guidance warns of added fees, a warrant, and driver-license suspension.

Note: A Union mandatory-appearance result should be confirmed with the named court, not routed to an unverified city pay page.

Where Union Cases End Up

Union appeals can travel a familiar path. A municipal ordinance or traffic case out of Union may go up to Greene Circuit Court for a trial de novo, where Alabama Rule of Criminal Procedure 30 makes that route available. The Circuit Court then hears the matter fresh rather than reviewing the municipal record. So the county docket may hold a later case number tied to the same conduct that began in the local Union court.

Docket flow: Union Municipal Court › Greene County Courts › Circuit Court

Not every Union matter starts in a municipal venue. Felonies and general civil cases belong to the proper county trial court. District Court keeps the misdemeanor, state traffic, small-claims, lower-value civil, juvenile, and child-support files. Probate sits in a separate office entirely. The Greene County court docket maps the full county hierarchy.

Union Residence Does Not Choose Court

Living in Union does not decide a court. A civil or criminal matter may belong in Circuit or District Court. The case type and the governing jurisdiction decide that. This matters most when the place name is already hard to search. Adding "Union" to a query narrows geography. But it cannot replace the court classification printed on the case record.

For a Circuit or District file, contact Circuit Clerk Veronica Morton-Jones at the William M. Branch Courthouse, 400 Morrow Avenue, Eutaw, Alabama 35462, (205) 372-3598. Estate, guardianship, conservatorship, adoption, and other statutory probate files go to Judge of Probate Rolonda M. Wedgeworth at the same street address, (205) 372-3340 ext. 1. These are county custodians, not Union municipal offices.

Public Access to Union Court Records

Union court records answer to Alabama law. They also answer to court privacy rules and the office that holds them. Under §36-12-40, Alabama citizens may inspect and copy public writings, subject to exceptions. That right has edges. Juvenile cases, youthful-offender records, adoption files, expunged matters, sealed records, and protected personal data stay closed. No request can open them by citing the general statute.

Key Rules:

Alabama Code §36-12-40 states the basic inspection and copying right for Alabama citizens.

Alabama Code §36-12-44 addresses the public-record custodian's duties and response process.

Court-Record Privacy Rules 301-303 govern protected information, redaction, and sealing.

Start an ordinary Union-related case request with the court clerk. Before ordering copies, ask whether the file is public, archived, redacted, or restricted.

Union Court Docket Custodian Duties

A custodian can identify the record. The custodian can also clarify a request, apply access limits, and quote copying procedures. That role stops there. The custodian does not decide the Union case or advise a party on strategy. Help the office help you. Supply the court, the exact case number, the document title, the filing date if known, and the copy type you want. That way a Case Action Summary does not get confused with an order, judgment, pleading, or certified copy.

The official text of Alabama Code §36-12-44 spells out what that office must do.

That provision supports direct contact with the correct Union or county custodian. It does not open a door around judicial confidentiality.

Greene County posts no certified-copy fee or downloadable form. It posts no email request address, fax, turnaround promise, or payment list either. Ask the clerk for current instructions before sending funds or private information.

Union Court Records at City Scale

Union counted 223 residents in the official 2020 Census, the fourth incorporated place in Greene County. A town that size leans on shared county access. That fact alone does not prove Union lacks a municipal function, though the town offers no municipal court portal and no current office profile. Treat the county offices as the working path.

A Union search earns its keep by stopping a hunt for a database that does not exist. The source paper, the statewide trial system, and the proper county custodian form a concrete path. No invented city services needed.
